Free-flowing rivers make for more vibrant cities, offering residents a place for gathering and connecting with nature
What would a free-flowing waterfront mean for Clarkston and Lewiston? One can imagine:
- public gathering spaces
- public markets and farmers markets
- expanded walking and biking trails
- improved access to the river for boating and swimming

Potential for new public gathering spaces along the waterfront
Without the levee and riprap blocking access to the waterfront, new places could be created for the community to enjoy being outdoors together—farmers markets, expanded walking and biking trails, boat launches and public gathering spaces–all of which will restore the waterfront as an integral part of our community.
Many cities around the world are discovering the value of their rivers for improving the quality of life for residents while also attracting more tourists
